Market Notes - August 21, 2009

U.S. stocks look set to open with positive momentum as futures turned higher following better-than-expected economic data in Europe. Volume has been low this week and could add to the volatility.

Investors will get another look at the housing market today when existing home sales data is released at 10:00 am ET. Sales are expected to have risen by 2.2% to about 5 million units.

Also at 10:00, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke will speak to the annual Kansas City Fed symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Investors will be listening closely for clues of any new information on an exit strategy and the economy.
