Market Notes - August 24, 2009

Stock index future point to another positive open, with world shares hitting 10-month highs as investor confidence picks up. Wall Street soared on Friday after Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke said the economy is near a recovery and existing home sales posted their biggest jump in two years.

There are no major economic reports scheduled today. We will receive a confidence report and the S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index tomorrow. On Wednessday, new home sales data and durable goods orders will be released. On Thursday we get the weekly jobless claims number and Personal Consumption data. We end the week with the Personal Income and Outlays report and the University of Michigan’s Consumer Sentiment report.
