Market Notes - February 26, 2010

The U.S. economy grew at a slightly higher pace than originally reported during the fourth quarter of 2009. Real GDP growth was revised upward to an annualized 5.9% from the initial estimate of 5.7%.

At 9:45 am ET, the Chicago Purchasing Managers index for January will be out. Consensus forecasts call for a reading of 60.5. At 9:55 am ET, the University of Michigan consumer sentiment index will be released, with economists expecting a reading of 73.7. The National Association of Realtors issues January existing home sale figures at 10:00 am, with a 0.9% rise expected. Existing home sales surged 16.7% in December.
