Market Notes - February 11, 2010

U.S. stock futures, already in positive territory on an apparent deal to provide aid to Greece, added to gains on good news from the labor market.

The government said that weekly jobless claims fell 43,000 in the previous week to 440,000. The report is an encouraging reversal on the previous three weeks and another subtle indication that labor markets are continuing to improve. December inventories are out today at 10:00 am ET, with consensus calling for a rise of 0.2% following an increase of 0.4% in November. Among today’s weather related postponements, the usual Thursday report on natural gas inventories and the government’s report on January retail sales have been pushed back until tomorrow.
