Market Notes - August 10, 2010

Stocks appeared set to give back some of yesterday’s gains when the markets open this morning. U.S. stock index futures were lower as investors await the latest statement from the Federal Reserve. The Fed is widely expected to leave rates unchanged, but investors will like focus more on what the policymakers say about the recovery. The statement is expected at 2:15 pm ET.

The Labor Department will release a report on productivity and costs at 8:30 am. Meanwhile, the Commerce Department will release a reading on wholesale inventories and sales at 10:00 am ET.
