U.S. stock index future traded a little higher this morning, following a rally that drove the S&P 500 and Dow up 1.4% and the Nasdaq up 1.7%.
The third quarter corporate earnings reporting period begins when aluminum maker Alcoa reports after the close. The pace of earnings reports will accelerate rapidly over the next couple of weeks.
Among numbers of note today: the Mortgage Bank Association will issue its weekly report on mortgage applications, the Energy Department is out with its weekly inventories, and consumer credit figures will be issued later this afternoon.
