Market Notes - May 26, 2009

The futures market points to a slightly lower open after the Memorial Day weekend. Stocks finished the past week mostly flat.

At 10:00 ET, the Conference Board is due to release its report on May consumer confidence, which is expected to show a rise. The Case-Shiller Home Price Index is also scheduled for release today and is one of several housing reports in store this week.

Tomorrow brings existing home sales data, while Thursday brings new home sales data along with weekly initial jobless claims and the durable goods report. We end the week with the preliminary first quarter GDP results, Chicago PMI and the final University of Michigan Confidence report for May.
