U.S. stocks futures point to a higher start, as investors await the release of the Federal Reserve’s latest policy statement. The central bank is due to make its announcement at 2:15 pm ET. Policy makers are widely expected to keep rates near historical lows, but as usual, investors will be looking to the Fed’s assessment of the economy for signs of recovery.
At 10:00 am ET, new home sales for May will be announced. Sales are expected to have fallen to a seasonally adjusted 400,000 homes from 504,000 sold in April. New home sales rose to the highest level since May 2008 last month, as buyers rushed to beat the deadline for the homebuyer’s tax credit.
