Market Notes - June 14, 2010

Early activity in the U.S. stock index futures market pointed to a positive start for the new week. Asian and European markets also traded higher.

There are no major economic reports on the schedule today, but there will be plenty of indicators throughout the week. Tomorrow we will see the Empire State manufacturing index, the import price index and the home builders index. On Wednesday, we will get inflation data from the Producer Price Index, the latest number housing starts, and an update on industrial production. We will get another look at inflation on Thursday with the Consumer Price Index. Other reports scheduled that day include the weekly jobless claims, the index of leading indicators, and the Philly Fed index. There are no reports scheduled for Friday, but we could see higher than normal trading activity as options and futures expire that day.
