Market Notes - February 24, 2010

Futures pointed to a slightly higher open after slumping yesterday.

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke heads to Capital Hill for the first of two days of testimony before lawmakers. He is expected to discuss economic and monetary policy, but investors will be looking for any signs of how the Fed plans to unwind some of the various emergency plans that were put in place during the crisis.

There is only one major economic report on the calendar today. New home sales data for January will be released at 10:00 am ET. Economists expect a 3.8% increase for the month, following a 7.6% drop in December.
