U.S. stock futures point to a higher open, with investors preparing for a wave of economic reports. The markets are closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving, so trading could be choppy today.
The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits fell last week to the lowest level since September 2008. Initial jobless claims declined to 466,000 in the week ended November 21, from 501,000 a week earlier. The four-week moving average dropped to 496,500 from 513,000 the prior week, while continuing claims declined by 190,000 to 5.423 million.
October durable goods orders fell unexpectedly, but personal spending rose more than expected as income increased. Consumer sentiment will be released at 9:55 am ET time, and new home sales are due to come out at 10:00 am.
